Behaviour and Discipline

Working together with you, the parents, is very important if we are to succeed in creating an orderly community where the children can feel safe and happy.  The emphasis is on encouraging positive behaviour and rewarding what we see as good.  Children’s self-esteem is raised when they feel they are doing well and it is always more important to notice their successes rather than focus on negative aspects.  We have a system of rewards and sanctions, which relate to clearly defined rules.  These are discussed with the children to help them understand why we need such codes of behaviour.

One thing we are very clear about is that we will not tolerate violence of any kind, and would act swiftly in cases where this occurs.  Similarly, if we are made aware of any kind of bullying this is fully investigated and dealt with where it is found, although please appreciate, this may not be done on the same day.  It is very likely that parents will be involved at an early stage in such situations.  It is unusual for us to exclude children from school, but this option is open to us in the most serious cases.  If you would like to know more please see attached policy
